The past two weeks I have learned about God's character and nature as well as hearing his voice in my life. One great thing that YWAM emphasizes is relationship with God over religious devotion. We have started reading "Is That Really You God?" by Loren Cunningham, the founder of YWAM. We also have hiked up Ben Lomond and Queenstown Hill. We hosted an open worship night at a local church and were able to minister to a few people in Queenstown. This week we are starting lectures on spiritual warfare. I have gotten a heat rash on my hands which is a little uncomfortable but not a big problem. I would appreciate pray for that and prayer for God's continued protection of me and the other students. We will find out our outreach locations sometime this week, so I will send another update soon. Thanks for all the prayers and support. I miss you all.
I have found out my outreach location. I will be going to Papua New Guinea! I am so excited to see how God will use me and the rest of my team there. There are seven students and two leaders going.
Lecture phase ended on Friday and I am now on my way to Papua New Guinea. The past few lecture weeks I learned about the lordship of Jesus, the father-heart of God, relationships, missions, and worldview. During lordship week I was challenged to make sure that I was giving every area of my life to God. During father-heart and relationships week I learned about how my parents represent God and affect how I see Him. I also learned better how to respect others in different kinds of relationships. The boys also had the opportunity to bless the girls with a fancy breakfast at the end of the week. During missions and worldview week I learned about God's heart for all nations throughout the whole Bible into modern times. Two weekends ago I was able to go to Milford Sound, which is one of most beautiful places in New Zealand most people would say. I am currently staying overnight at the Aukland YWAM base and tommorow I will continue on with my team to New Britain Papua New Guin...
This week was Jesus week so we learned more about looking at the Bible through Jesus and opened up some of the topics that turn people away from Christianity. We did not completely figure out these topics, but our speaker mainly emphasized not rejecting Jesus when we have doubts. Instead we keep on looking to God while searching for answers. This week we also played a game called angels and mortals. Everyone is someone else's angel and they do fun things for them like giving them candy, setting up scavenger hunts, or throwing them dance parties. At the end of the week you try to guess who your angel was. We also did our book reports for "Is That Really You God?" We are now halfway through lecture phase and are getting ready for outreach. Thanks for your continued prayers. I miss you all.
