Angels and Mortals

This week was Jesus week so we learned more about looking at the Bible through Jesus and opened up some of the topics that turn people away from Christianity. We did not completely figure out these topics, but our speaker mainly emphasized not rejecting Jesus when we have doubts. Instead we keep on looking to God while searching for answers. This week we also played a game called angels and mortals. Everyone is someone else's angel and they do fun things for them like giving them candy, setting up scavenger hunts, or throwing them dance parties. At the end of the week you try to guess who your angel was. We also did our book reports for "Is That Really You God?" We are now halfway through lecture phase and are getting ready for outreach. Outreach Team!

Here is my outreach team for Papua New Guinea. From top left to top right it goes Nate, me, Ben, Jan, and Noah. On the bottom it goes Tori, Cookie, Booh, and Anna Malene. Last week for lectures we learned about inductive studying of the Bible as well as learning how the Bible was created and diligently copied. We did an inductive study of the book of Ruth to practice what we learned. Last week we also had the October DTS come back from outreach and stay with us for graduation. We got to hear a lot of awesome testimonies from them. Now most of them have gone home or are traveling in New Zealand. Thank you all so much for helping me get here and praying for me.

New Zealand

I am in New Zealand! I have spent the first couple of days getting to know the team and staff. Now we are starting the training with hearing our leaders testimonies. Next week we will have our first outside speaker. The picture above is our base view.

  I am delighted to be able to tell you about an amazing opportunity that I have coming up. I have been accepted into the Arise Discipleship Training School (DTS) at Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Queenstown, New Zealand. DTS is a 6-month training program that is split into two parts. During the first three months, I will learn more about God to be able draw closer to Him with fewer distractions while training to be a short-term missionary. Then, in the last 3 months, our class will be sent out to another country so that we can put into practice what we learn and share the gospel with others. This DTS usually sends their classes to Fiji, Papua New Guinee, or Indonesia. While I am unsure which of these countries I will go to yet, I will update you when I find out. I will depart on January 19th and return on June 22nd. I am thrilled to be able to spend half a year focusing on Jesus and obeying His command to share the gospel to the ends of the earth.
